Welcome to Respect SLO Bro

The City of San Luis Obispo Office of Neighborhood Services developed the Respect SLO Bro program  to provide information and resources to college students living off campus.

As a member of the San Luis Obispo community, you’ll be meeting and living next to a diverse mix of people in your neighborhood, including families with children, senior citizens, working professionals, and fellow students. The key to making this work is simple…Respect. Understand that your neighbors may live a different lifestyle than you. They may have young children with early bedtimes, or have to get up at 6:00 AM for work. Being part of a neighborhood means developing relationships and lines of communication with your neighbors, and respecting everyone’s right to living in a peaceful and respectful atmosphere. The City of San Luis Obispo wants to help you achieve this.

Check out the SLOPD's Tips for Living Off Campus.

When you move into a neighborhood, introduce yourself to your neighbors to begin building a positive relationship. The City’s “Good Neighbor Checklist” has loads of information about how to be a good neighbor.

Noise and parties are a real problem in our neighborhoods and the “San Luis Obispo Noise Guidelines” brochure can help keep you from getting an expensive ticket. Check it out at here.

And if you do find yourself in conflict with your neighbors, roommates, or landlord, and talking things out with them isn’t working, there is a free conflict resolution and mediation service called SLO Solutions available to you. Get more info at http://www.creativemediation.net .
